The brief

Ganesh Chaturthi is not a wedding.

Nobody is checking whether your kurta is raw silk. What actually happens across these ten days is this: you stand for two hours in a pandal queue, you get pressed into a crowd at aarti, a dhol pathak sets off at close range, it rains for twenty minutes without warning, and then you walk. A lot.

The outfit that wins is the one still wearable at hour nine. Which is why most people quietly change into a t-shirt by day three — and why the Utsav Edition is a t-shirt that doesn't read like you gave up.

The rule we built it on: take the colour from the festival and the cut from your actual wardrobe. Saffron, marigold, paper and deep violet register as celebratory to an Indian eye regardless of silhouette. A boxed 240 GSM tee in paper white reads considered. The same tee in washed grey reads laundry day. Identical garment — the colour does all the work.

Survives the humidity

240 GSM combed cotton, garment-dyed. No synthetic blend clinging to you in a September pandal.

Survives the rain

Already through a wet process — it won't bleed or shrink the first time you get caught out.

Survives ten days

Heavy knit resists the neckline stretch that kills a cheap tee by Gauri Visarjan.

The artwork

Ukiyo-e woodblock, drawn for Bappa.

The Utsav Edition is drawn in an Indo-Japanese vintage illustration style — a deliberate fusion of Ukiyo-e woodblock printing and Indian devotional art. Each of the seven tees takes a different name of Ganesha and sets it inside the visual grammar of a Japanese print: the flat vermilion sun disc, stylised cloud banks and wave crests, wind-bent pine and distant blue-grey mountain ranges, all laid on aged parchment with a soft crackle and the muted, sun-faded palette of a century-old block print. Into that framework goes the Indian half — Ganesha rendered in the round, generous line of Pahari and Mysore miniature painting, the lotus, the modak, the mushak at his feet, Devanagari calligraphy and the Om — composed as a gridded editorial collage rather than a single centred deity, so each shirt reads like a page torn from an illustrated manuscript. The result is neither costume nor kitsch: it is devotional iconography given the restraint, negative space and print discipline of Japanese design, and it is why the Edition sits as comfortably with a pair of cargos as it does at an aarti.

Questions people actually ask

How long are orders open?
The Utsav Edition is open for orders until 26 September 2026. It's a single run — once it closes, that artwork is archived and isn't reprinted. The countdown on the page is the honest deadline, not a pressure tactic.
Will my Ganpati order arrive before Visarjan?
Orders placed before 6 PM IST ship the same working day. Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad typically receive in 7–12 days; the rest of India in 8–15 days. Shipping is ₹29 within Pune, ₹99 elsewhere in Maharashtra and ₹149 for the rest of India. If you want it in hand for a specific day, order with that window in mind.
What should I wear for Ganesh Chaturthi if I don't want full traditional?
A heavyweight oversized tee or a kurta-cut overshirt in paper white, saffron or deep violet reads festive without costume. Pair it with a straight-leg cargo or a relaxed trouser — it survives ten hours of pandal-hopping, dhol and rain, which a silk kurta will not.
Is the Utsav Edition restocked after Ganpati?
No. wastD Editions are single-run and numbered. Once the Utsav Edition sells through it is archived — the next festive drop is a different garment entirely.
Do you deliver to Mumbai and Pune during the festival?
Yes. Our courier partners run through the festival, though visarjan-route roads can add a day in South Mumbai, Lalbaug, Pune Camp and Hyderabad's Old City. We build that buffer into the tracking estimate.
