An Indian streetwear label that releases in Editions, not seasons
Streetwear in India mostly means one of two things: an imported brand at an import price, or a local label printing whatever is trending onto blanks nobody chose carefully. wastD is neither. It is two people in Pune making small numbered runs of heavyweight cotton with original artwork on it.
Editions instead of seasons
A season is a calendar obligation: spring/summer, autumn/winter, the same shapes re-cut in whatever colour a trend report nominated eighteen months earlier. An Edition is a single production run built around one idea, made once and numbered.
When it sells through it is archived rather than restocked. That forfeits the easiest money in clothing — reprinting something that already sold — and it is the constraint the whole label is built on.
Made in India, and specifically in Pune
Everything is produced in small batches here rather than imported. That is partly cost, but mostly control: at this scale both of us can physically open a box from every run before it ships, which is not a claim a label working at ten thousand units can make honestly.
It also means the money stays in a local supply chain, and that a problem with a run is a conversation with someone a short drive away rather than an email thread across a time zone.
Two people, which changes what you get
Sai runs the business end — sourcing, production, the unglamorous spreadsheet half. Maithili draws every graphic. When an order goes wrong the reply comes from one of them rather than a ticket queue, which is slower than a call centre and considerably more useful.
The honest downside of a two-person label: sizes sell out and do not come back, replies take up to a working day, and there is no phone line. The upside is that nothing about your order lives only in somebody's memory.

- Three things that are checkable rather than claimed: the fabric is 240 GSM combed cotton where most of the market uses 140–180; every graphic is drawn in-house for one Edition rather than licensed; and runs are never reprinted once they sell through. - Is wastD actually made in India?
- Yes — designed and produced in small batches in Pune, Maharashtra, not imported and rebranded. GSTIN and the registered business details are published on the terms and privacy pages, as Indian law requires.
- What is a drop, and how do I know when one is happening?
- A drop is the release of a new Edition — a single production run, made once. They are announced to the newsletter first, and the Editions page lists every drop including scheduled ones with a countdown. There is no fixed calendar; an Edition goes live when it is ready.
- Do you ship across India?
- Yes, nationwide. Flat rates by distance: ₹29 across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, ₹99 elsewhere in Maharashtra, ₹149 for the rest of India. Not international yet.
