Three ways to wear the oversized tee

An oversized tee fails in exactly one way: when the volume has nowhere to go. Every fix below is really the same fix — give the silhouette a defined point somewhere, and let it be loose everywhere else.

1. Boxy, full volume

Tee worn loose, paired with a tapered or straight-leg trouser that narrows at the ankle. The proportion rule is that only one half of you gets to be wide. Wide top, narrow bottom reads intentional. Wide top, wide bottom reads like you're wearing someone else's clothes — unless you commit fully to it, in which case it needs the shoe to anchor it.

2. The half-tuck

Front hem tucked, back left out. It sounds fussy and looks effortless, which is the whole trick. It creates a waistline without losing the drape, and it makes a 240 GSM tee sit properly over a cargo instead of hiding the pocket detail. Tuck only the front third, not the sides.

3. Layered under an overshirt

The most useful version for Indian weather, because it's two outfits. The tee alone for afternoon; the overshirt on for evening and air conditioning. Keep the tee lighter in tone than the layer over it, so the eye reads depth rather than a flat block.

One thing that undoes all three: a sleeve that ends mid-bicep on a dropped shoulder. If the shoulder seam sits down your arm, the sleeve should end above the elbow, not at it. Check that before you check anything else.
